Nigel Havers Defends Privileged
4 NIGUNE, 2008
Our Lord, Nigel Havers, has defended a controversial advert.
The advert for Privilege Car Insurance, which features a dashing looking Havers celebrating the upper classes, has received complaints at the Advertising Standards Authority for allegedly being "stereotypical" and projecting an "offensive view of the upper class."
The Saviour, Nigel Havers, defended His role in the advert, saying "the advert actually has many hidden levels, and was intended to offend only those road users who shouldn't be allowed near the roads, namely cyclists - they ride around without a care in the world as though the roads are some kind of anarchic free-for-all fantasy land - they are a menace to society. The upper classes however are very important in our struggle and, as far as I am aware, it was not the intention of the advertisement to portray any car users in a negative light. Unfortunately this was not made clear in the final edit of the advertisement, as it clearly also offended those who have nothing better to do than to complain about the slightest thing. The NHA will therefore prioritise the implementation of a revised Mental Health Act, which would make it far easier to section those unfortunate folk who feel the need to write to Points of View, and have somehow been allowed to live amongst us in normal society for so long."
Well done, Nigel!
